Stanway's Big Day

3 September 2014

U9s have a day to remember.

The U’s recent match against Peterborough United was a day to remember for Stanway Villa U9s, who enjoyed a fantastic day out at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

The boys – who play for the Blues and Reds teams at Villa, were treated to a day out by their coaches and parents and not only enjoyed a stadium tour, but they also got to meet the players, tread the hallowed turf of the U’s first team pitch and also take penalties at half time in front of an appreciative crowd!

Natasha Roberts, who helps to run the teams, said: "I think it's safe to say that every child and parent enjoyed the day immensely. The tour was fab and for the boys to be able to mingle with the players, many of who are idols, was fantastic.

"Jack (our goalkeeper) and Sam Walker spoke about penalties and strangely enough he then saved a penalty within minutes of the game kicking off!

"But most of all the boys were in awe of their surroundings, walking out onto the pitch to take penalties in front of the crowd. I think a day of memories which will be spoken about for years to come. Thanks again for a magical day."
