Host Families Required

1 April 2015

Could you host one of our scholars?

The Club are currently looking to recruit new families for next season and would consider applications from those interested in being a full time family and those able to offer temporary accommodation for trial players or as holiday cover.

he Colchester United FC Accommodation Provision Programme provides homestay style housing for male football apprentices (16-18 years old) who live outside of the local area.T

Accommodation should be in close proximity to Weston Homes Community Stadium in Colchester or the Grange Road Training Ground in Tiptree.

Homes should be clean, comfortable, welcoming, and in a safe setting.  Apprentices should have a room of their own, receive a good level of supervision, and high quality nutritional breakfasts, evening meals and snacks.

Full time accommodation requirements are Sunday/Monday evening through to Friday/Saturday morning during the football season (July to May).

Information on the role, the application process, and remuneration is available from Jennifer King, Academy Safeguarding Officer, by telephoning 01206 755144 or emailing

Two written references will also be required.  Applicants will in addition need to demonstrate that the accommodation meets certain safety standards.

The role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974), and all convictions including spent convictions that have not been subject to filtering by the DBS should be declared.

This role involves work with children and therefore, requires enhanced criminal records checks and checks against the barred list through the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Colchester United FC is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all Accommodation Providers to share this commitment.   Safeguarding
