Elokobi in the squad to face Blackpool.
And boss Tony Humes' squad is boosted by the return of George Elokobi.
Having re-signed for the U's in the summer, George has been hampered by a calf injury but is back in contention for the opening game of the new campaign.
He has trained all week and is included in the twenty man squad to face Neil McDonald's newly relegated Seasiders.
Sam Walker is also fit and available, having recovered fully from his knee injury, and proved his fitness with a seventy minute outing against Norwich City on Tuesday afternoon.
He will be fighting new signing Elliott Parish for a starting place, in front of a U's back four that could contain Matt Briggs.
Briggs has missed the last couple of pre-season friendlies but like Elokobi, played a full part in this week's training.
The newest acquisition to the squad, Darren Ambrose, could make his U's debut on Saturday, just forty-eight hours after signing a one year deal at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.
Squad: Parish, Walker, Briggs, Vincent-Young, Wynter, Brindley, Elokobi, Kent, Eastman, Edwards, Gilbey, Moncur, Szmodics, Massey, Sembie-Ferris, Wright, Ambrose, Porter, Holman, Bonne.
