A Welsh youth international, 18-year-old Charley joins the U's after leaving Premier League side Everton in the summer at the end of his two year scholarship.
A direct winger, he proved in pre-season that he will worry full backs with his pacey running and crossing ability.
Meanwhile, Chris (pictured) joins the U's from Southampton. An all action, tough tackling midfielder who is not afraid to get forward, the teenager was another to impress in the U21's pre-season campaign.
Chris told the official website: "Pre-season has been a really good test and I'm glad to have signed for Colchester United.
"This is a club that's got a lot to offer and I feel like I can make good strides here.
"There is an opportunity for young players to make their way into the first team here, so I hope I can progress here and follow in the other young players' footsteps."
