Porter Signs New Deal

29 August 2015

Captain extends contract with U's.

Colchester United captain Chris Porter has commited his future to the club by signing a new contract with the U's.

Having arrived in January, Chris' original deal was due to expire at the end of the 2015/16 season.

However, he has now extended his stay through to the summer of 2017.

Chris was chosen as captain by manager Tony Humes at the start of the current campaign and he couldn't be happier with life at Colchester United.

"I have been here and settled in quickly and I have enjoyed the role of captain so far this season.

He said: "I am delighted to have committed my future to the club. "I am being back fit and looking forward to a more successful season this time around."

And his boss was very happy to have tied down the skipper to a new deal.

"I'm pleased that Chris has extended his contract. He's a good experienced pro, a good leader who takes responsibility and he has been a great help with the young players," Tony added.

"He's been great as captain already, shown his leadership skills, shown responsibility and with the more experienced players around him now, they'll do things in the right way to make sure we've got a strong dressing room."
