U21s Start With A Loss

10 August 2015

Huddersfield win by four in first game.

Colchester United's U21s endured a tough start to the season as they were beaten 4-0 away at Huddersfield Town on Monday afternoon.

The home side were dominant in the first 45 minutes and took a three goal lead into the interval.

The first of those goals came after just twelve minutes. Ronan Coughlan was the provider, setting in Rekeil Pyke on goal and although Chris Lewington saved well, Flo Bojaj was on hand to tuck home.

Lewington pulled off several good stops before the home side extended their advantage just before the half hour mark.

Duane Holmes struck a shot that the keeper turned behind for a corner, and the set piece was cleared as far as Phillip Billing, who slid the ball home from the edge of the box.

Two minutes later, it was three, as Bojaj won the ball and Pyke was assured in his finish to put the game seemingly beyond the U's reach.

Whilst Colchester improved after half time, it was the home side who were to then score the only goal of the second period.

That goal came with pretty much the last kick of the game. Jacob Hanson marauded forward from right back and slotted under Lewington to complete a good day's work for the Terriers.

Next up for the U's is a home game against Birmingham City at Florence Park on August 19th.
