Bowers In The Cup

16 December 2015

Essex Senior League side next in cup.

Meanwhile, Redbridge joint-managers Dave Ross and Ricky Eaton have a New Year BBC Essex Senior Cup Quarter-Final at home against Tilbury or Braintree Town to look forward to after they helped to conduct the draw.

They currently sit fourth in their league table, having picked up 35 points from 15 games.

The Essex Senior League side will come to the Weston Homes Community Stadium in January as the county competition reaches the final eight.

Colchester United will face Bowers & Pitsea in the Essex Senior Cup quarter finals, after the two teams were paired together in Wednesday's draw.

Redbridge, responsible for the scalp of Southend United at Roots Hall in Round Three, await the winners of the Tilbury-Braintree tie at Chadfields on Tuesday 5th January.

The Motormen’s management duo pulled out the home clubs at the station’s Chelmsford studios while Essex County FA Chief Executive, Phil Sammons was responsible for the away teams.

Ryman North side Heybridge Swifts shocked Dagenham & Redbridge in a last-16 shootout to earn a home tie against Aveley, while Concord Rangers face the winners of the Chelmsford City against Witham Town clash at Melbourne Stadium.

"If we get it against Tilbury it’s great because the managers are both our ex-players and we’ve got a great relationship with Tilbury, so it would be lovely to get them over to us. It’d be third time lucky for us because they’ve already beaten us twice this season."

"It’s a nice draw, really," said Ross, whose side are currently sitting towards the foot of the Ryman North league table but have won their last two games.

"If we can carry on and get to the Semi-Finals of the Essex Cup it would be a great boost for Redbridge, especially after defeating Southend, who put up a very strong Under 21s Academy Side. We played excellent there."

He also believes the Essex Senior Cup is an important part of the club’s yearly priorities: "If we get Braintree, who are absolutely flying high in the Conference, that would be a great draw as well. Any cup improves morale within the club.
And colleague Eaton believes they have a strong partnership which functions well, with both individuals able to contribute and confer on key decisions: "We just do everything together.

"We bounce off each other. We have ideas between us then come to a conclusion which we think is best for the side. It’s a good time for us at the minute. Everyone is confident."
