U's Lose At Charlton

22 December 2015

Drey's goal a consolation in latest match.

Colchester United's U21s fell to defeat to Charlton in their latest league match, as the Addicks continued their recent excellent run of form.

The home side came from behind to defeat a young U's side, to record their eleventh win in twelve games and gain revenge for defeat at the Weston Homes Community Stadium earlier in the season.

It was Drey Wright who put the U's in front after 16 minutes, breaking through and finishing calmly to open the scoring.

They had another chance six minutes later as Femi Akinwande couldn't convert at close range, but the home side were level just before the half hour mark.

Moussa passed the ball through for Kennedy to beat Bransgrove, with Hanlan making sure on the line to make it 1-1.

30 seconds after half time, the hosts were in front. The same three Charlton players were involved, but this time it was Kennedy who finished again from close range.

Jack Curtis missed a chance for the U's on the hour mark, before driving in a shot from distance five minutes later, but it was Charlton who were to get the decisive fourth of the game.

Moussa was again involved, and again it was a close range finish, as substitute Umerah bundled home.
