Wright Is Number Two

21 December 2015

U21s boss steps up to assistant role.

David Wright is Colchester United's new assistant manager, as he continues his own progress up the coaching ladder.

Bringing a wealth of footballing knowledge with him, David is a name that will already be familiar to Colchester United supporters.

He joined the U's as a combative midfielder during Joe Dunne's reign at the club, and played an instrumental role in pulling Colchester clear of trouble at the end of the 2012/13 season, culminating in a memorable day at Carlisle United.

Having ventured into coaching initially with Ipswich Town's academy, he returned to the club in the summer of 2015 to take on a role with the U's U21s side.

Alongside his coaching with the promising players of the future at Florence Park, David also has been in charge of local side Maldon & Tiptree since the start of this season, as the Ryman League side attempt a push for the play-offs.

But he will now step away from that role with the Jammers to assist new boss Kevin Keen as the next chapter of Colchester United's history gets underway.
