Special FA session for keeping coaches.

Colchester United's Florence Park training ground played host to a special goalkeeper coaching session on Wednesday afternoon.

Instigated by Colchester United Academy manager Sean Thacker, the U's welcomed the FA's National Goalkeeping Coach Tim Dittmer to take a Continuous Professional Development (CPD) event with a number of academy goalkeeping coaches.

Representatives from the U's, Ipswich Town, Norwich City, Chelsea and West Ham spent a day at Florence Park, undertaking both theoretical and practical work.

Pete Trevivian, FAYCE for the Eastern Region, told the website: "This is an excellent opportunity for the clubs in my cluster to come together at Colchester United's fantastic facility and spend the day together.

"We've been lucky enough to get Tim here today to spend some time with the various coaches and the hours they spend here today with count towards their FA coaching licences and this is a key part of their continued development.

"This is the first goalkeeping get together of its kind that I've had in my cluster and it has been a very successful event and will provide a useful template for similar activities in the future."

U12s, U13s and U14s players from the Thurstable programme were involved in match situations, with goalkeepers Ted Collins (U12s), Alex Horne (U13s), Cabhan Clarke (U14s) and Joe Potter (U15s), all being put through their paces as part of the session put on by Tim.

The session was also a useful learning exercise for members of the U's Academy.
