U's Flash: McEvoy Signs

30 January 2015

Spurs winger joins U's on loan

Spurs youngster Kenny McEvoy has signed for the U's.

The twenty year old will be with the U's for the rest of the season, having signed a youth loan from the Premier League side.

He is no stranger to League One, having made seven appearances and scoring once for Peterborough United earlier this season.

Currently a regular for the Republic Of Ireland U21s, the pacey winger has also represented his country at U16, U17 and U19 level.

He got his first run out in a U's shirt on Monday evening, scoring twice in the 2-2 draw against Millwall's U21s, and is expected to be in the squad for the Bradford City trip, subject to the transfer paperwork receiving relevant approvals in time.

Tony Humes was pleased that the deal had been finalised ahead of the game at Valley Parade at the weekend.

He told the official website: "It's great that the paperwork has all been done and we've finally got Kenny."

"We knew we were getting an exciting young talent and Kenny had a great start with us scoring the two goals on Monday night."

"He is another attacking option for us and I hope that he settles in and enjoys his time at Colchester United."
