Colchester United are delighted to confirm the arrival of Alex Wynter on a permanent switch from Crystal Palace.
Alex, who enjoyed a successful loan spell with the U's at the end of the 2013/14 season, completed his move to the club on Friday afternoon ahead of this weekend's trip to Peterborough United.
The 21-year-old has spent the first half of the 2014/15 campaign with League Two side Portsmouth, playing 15 league and cup games for the south coast side.
He briefly returned to Crystal Palace this week, but has now joined the U's on a contract that runs through to the end of the 2015/16 season.
His versatility and ability to play across the back four will give the U's additional depth at the back as they look to climb the League One table in the second half of the season. The completion of his move was confirmed ahead of the weekend trip to Peterborough and he will be eligible for Saturday's game.
