Eddie's Busy Weekend

6 July 2015

U's fluffy mascot on the road.

It was another busy weekend for the U's, as another sunny Saturday morning meant another day of travelling around Colchester spreading the word on Colchester United for our mascot Eddie the Eagle!

It started off with a visit to St Gregory's Primary School in the heart of Sudbury, where he had been invited by headteacher and U's fan Daniel Woodrow.

Upon arrival Eddie was sure to make a fuss of a couple more U's fans he saw, before taking his place in goal for a beat the goalie competition.

Eddie was on top form performing some terrific saves but, the more practice the children got, the less of a chance Eddie stood. Another brilliantly run fete which Eddie had helped make a little more special!

Up next was a trip to Abbey Fields near Colchester Garrison where it was the Colchester Military Festival.

Abbey Fields was jam-packed full of military vehicles and army personnel as well as lots and lots of activities for children. One of these activities was put on by our Football In The Community Team with some mini matches and skills sessions which Eddie the Eagle got involved with whilst he was there.

The last visit of the day was to Alresford Village Fete, Eddie was accompanied by U's striker Chris Porter who was on hand to officially open the fete and take part in a Q & A session in front of the many locals (including a good number of U's fans) who were in attendance.

This wasn't Chris' last action of the day, as he was also on hand to judge the cake competition which had been put on!

Eddie was in his element having Horse & Carriage rides and driving around on tractors before he was back to his best in the performance arena for some more penalties from the local children.

Another great weekend of visits, whilst spreading the Colchester United message and meeting some great people in the community!
