Templars Enjoy Visit

9 July 2015

Witham school visits WHCS for activities day.

Templars Primary School in Witham were the latest local school to visit the Weston Homes Community Stadium on Thursday, for one of the club's activity days.

Nearly 60 Year Two pupils visited for a day of fun at WHCS, led by the U's Football in the Community team and club staff members.

They had the chance to design their own football boot, go on a stadium tour, play football and even participate in aerobics with Eddie the Eagle!

Tom Tayler, who led the day, said: "The activities days are a great day for the children to get to see all parts of the Weston Homes Community Stadium whilst also showing that Colchester United is about more than just football.

Templars' visit follows the U's hosting Hedingham School last week for a Year 7 field trip to understand the reasons behind the stadium relocation and the benefits it brings, with 180 pupils getting a look behind the scenes.

"Templars, as with all the schools, behaved fantastically and it’s our pleasure to put on these events hopefully we will be seeing these children back here to watch a match in the near future!"

"The four activities we put on today are fun but also educational and hopefully challenge the children in all different ways.
