Tony's Thanks

17 June 2015

Manager delighted by Season Ticket uptake.

"We have shown we can perform at the end of last season and we need to now reward them for their loyalty.

And Tony is pleased with how the supporters are backing his side: "It's fantastic that the fans have backed us in such positive numbers.

After a dramatic escape from relegation at the end of last season, the U's fans have got right behind their team over the summer, with an 8% increase in Season Ticket sales already.

Colchester United boss Tony Humes has thanked the club's supporters for their backing ahead of his first full season in charge.

"It's an exciting start to the season, facing a team that have just come down from the Championship, followed by a cup draw against a good side in that division."

Both Sam Walker and Alex Gilbey have spoken about making the Weston Homes Community Stadium more of a fortress this season, and Tony agrees.

He added: "We want to make sure that we start well, particularly at home. We finished strongly in the last five home matches of the season just gone, so we know we can do it.

"We have to learn to be consistent and make the stadium a place that teams fear, rather than relish, visiting."
