Defender arrives from Rotherham

Colchester United have bolstered their defensive ranks on the final day of the loan window, with the arrival of Richard Brindley from Rotherham.

The right back has joined on loan until the end of the season and his arrival follows the departure of Elliott Hewitt on Wednesday.

It's a return to the area for the 21 year old who, having started out at Norwich City's Academy, made his senior football breakthrough with Chelmsford City.

His performances for the Clarets saw Chesterfield offer him a pathway back into the Football League and he played 12 times for the Spireites.

Richard will wear shirt number 31 for the U's.

In the 2013/14 season, he switched to Rotherham and has played eighteen times for them so far - and his stint at Colchester will be his third loan spell away from the Millers, having also had stints with Scunthorpe and Oxford.
