Duo Exit U's

5 May 2015

Clohessy and Smith depart.

The U's have parted company with Sean Clohessy and Dominic Smith.
He came on as a substitute in Humes' first game in charge, away at Walsall back in September, but the U's boss feels that its better for the youngster to try his luck elsewhere.

Young striker Smith also joined the U's prior to the beginning of the 2014/15 season but has struggled to break into the squad.

Sean Clohessy joined the U's last summer but hasn't been involved with the first team since the end of February.

He has decided that the experienced defender and rookie forward would be surplus to requirements in 2015/16, as the U's embark on another League One campaign.

Despite the season only coming to a close on Sunday, with the U's retaining their League One status, boss Tony Humes has wasted no time in shaping his squad for the new season.

The official website will have all the summer transfer dealings as Tony Humes prepares for his first full season as U's manager.

On Clohessy's departure, the U's boss said: "Sean had another year left on his contract but it was in everyone's interests that it was terminated, allowing Sean to find another club over the summer."

"We signed Dom on a year's contract after he had come through Crewe's excellent academy but he has found it hard to break into the squad over the season and his contract won't be extended.
