The U's have done it! The results are in from elsewhere and, on a breathless afternoon, Tony Humes' men have escaped the bottom four, having spent all but one week there since mid-November. 14.13 Full Time

Gillingham extend their lead to make it 3-1 and it leaves the Magpies deep in trouble with time running out.

A lifeline for the Magpies in their game at the Priestfield Stadium, as Graham Burke drives home a shot to give the visitors the lead in Kent. As results stand at this point, even a U's win won't be enough. 13.36 Gillingham v Notts County

Midway through the first half and things look like they're going Leyton Orient's way. Swindon are down to ten men as Tyrell Belford is sent off but brother and fellow goalkeeper Cameron saves Lloyd James' penalty.

However, here's how it all unfolded...

The U's knew that results needed to go their way elsewhere and, at different points in the afternoon, things did look like they might conspire against them.

But, during the course of the afternoon, attentions will have wandered to other parts of the country, as U's fans kept tabs on results that could influence the team's destiny.

On a dramatic day at the Weston Homes Community Stadium, all eyes were understandably on the pitch in north Essex.
