Alex Makes The Move

14 October 2015

Defender sets up home in Colchester.

Travelling from his hometown of Croydon, Surrey into Colchester every day was becoming too much, however, following his purchase of a two bedroom apartment at Weston Homes Hawkins Wharf situated in the heart of Colchester, he was able to focus more on football than commuting.

Alex was recommended the Hawkins Wharf area by his teammate and friend Gavin Massey and immediately fell for the development.

21-year old Colchester United defender Alex Wynter has become the latest player to find that the town is a great place to live.

Alex said: "I wanted to purchase somewhere close to Colchester United's training ground and the Weston Homes Community Stadium where we play home matches, which is also close to the A12 so that I can visit my family, who live in Croydon, within an hour and a half.

"I like modern design and definitely wanted somewhere that I could style myself and make my home, and Hawkins Wharf was ideal as it was so close to the stadium and very easy for travelling thanks to its excellent transport connections.

"Coming from Surrey and playing for Colchester FC, the commute became far too much and was not what I wanted after a long day. Being ten minutes from training here at Hawkins Wharf means that after a hard day I can be home and relaxed in the time it used to take me to drive an eighth of the way back to Croydon."

Overlooking the picturesque River Colne in the heart of Essex, Hawkins Wharf is ideally located to take advantage of the varied shopping, dining and outdoor activated that Colchester offers.

The development of 221 one, two and three bedroom apartments as well as seven three-bedroom apartments is within half a mile of Colchester Hythe Rail station and a short walk to the campus of the University of Essex.

"My teammate and friend Gavin Massey has also purchased in Hawkins Wharf and showed me around the area and town. Colchester has everything I need and I enjoy popping in to browse the shops after training when I need some retail therapy!"

Alex added: "I have bought a spacious two bedroom apartment, the whole process of buying was smooth and efficient and I was kept up-to-speed throughout the whole process.

Weston Homes have used space intelligently within the residences at Hawkins Wharf, with interiors designed to flow from room to room and an envious specification.

All properties come with fully fitted designer Oakwood kitchens featuring integrated appliances, bathrooms feature ‘Roca Laura’ and ‘Laufen Pro’ suites as well as a selection of polished or unpolished ceramic tiling, chrome brightwork and heated towel rails.

All apartments benefit from generous outdoor space with either balconies or terraces overlooking the River Colne, the new pocket park in the development, or the city of Colchester.

Hawkins Wharf is enviably located and Colchester was recently named as a prime commuting hotspot.

Colchester station, around two miles from the development and reachable through local services from Hythe station, provides direct, fast links into Liverpool Street station within 50 minutes.

The A12, which is also easily reached from Hawkins Wharf, provides quick access to the M25 and Central London whilst Stansted is half an hour away.
