Dillon's Ready To Go

3 September 2015

New signing can't wait to get started with U's.

New boy Dillon answered some questions after training on Thursday, so the U's fans could get to know some more about their club's recent signing.

The 19-year-old had previously been on the books of Fulham, Barnet and Farnborough before making the switch to Colchester earlier this week.

Young goalkeeper Dillon Barnes joined Colchester United last week on a one year contract, after a string of good performances for the U21s whilst on trial with the club during the early part of the season.

How does it feel to be a Colchester United player after training with the U's all preseason?
I already feel at home, the boys have all treated me well. I feel that I've settled in well and they're a great bunch of players, so I’m delighted be in the squad.

Tell us a bit about the transfer came about?
I trained with squad during pre-season and was asked to take part in some U21s games as a triallist. I managed to play quite well and performed well enough to earn a one year contract which was fantastic news for me.

What do you feel you can bring to the team this year?
I can bring lots of hard work and determination to the team. I'm here to train my hardest and play my best so I hope I can get into the first team, put in some good performances and help the team win some games.

What do you feel the best part of your game is?
As a goalkeeper, I think my determination to keep the ball out of the net at all costs is my biggest strength.

What advice would you give to a younger player trying to make it in football?
Work as hard as you can and always believe in yourself no matter what anybody else says.
