Colchester United completed a superb September, as they saw off Bradford by a 2-0 scoreline.

Once again, the U's flew out of the blocks on Tuesday night, scoring within the first ten minutes for the fourth game in succession.

This time it was Callum Harriott who broke the deadlock, smashing home a low shot that Brad Jones couldn't deal with as it snuck past the keeper.

The U's then saw Bradford have a fair bit of possession, but Jamie Jones in the U's goal ensured that any balls into the box were comfortably dealt with.

But when the U's did get on the ball, they were a joy to watch in the first half and Sordell went close to doubling the advantage as he twisted and turned before seeing his shot deflected over.

Seven minutes after that chance, the U's doubled their advantage and it was Sordell who got it.

Garvan drove forward from midfield and laid off a sensational reverse pass into the path of Sordell, who steadied himself and curled home a fine effort to make it 2-0.

Buoyed by his goal, Sordell nearly made it three with an audacious effort. He controlled it fantastically on the halfway line and turned to send a long distance effot that dipped just over the bar with Jones beaten.

The home side retained their two goal advantage into the half time interval, but Bradford came at them at the start of the second.

But, for all of their play around the box, the U's protected their goalkeeper and ensured that any City efforts were from long distance.

In turn, City were wasteful with their final ball on many occassions, much to the frustration of former U's boss Phil Parkinson.

Chances were at a relative premium in the second half compared to the U's fluent play in the first period, yet they still looked dangerous when they got on the ball.

Harriott twice tested the keeper, with Sordell also causing problems.

The U's managed the game well and it wasn't until the 90th minute that City went close to getting their first of the game.

A corner was cleared into the path of McMahon, whose shot cannoned off the underside of the crossbar and away to safety.

And so the U's made it ten unbeaten at home, six unbeaten this season and four wins on the spin for the first time in six years.

Not bad, hey?
