Midfielder pens extended contract.
Colchester United are delighted to confirm that midfielder Owen Garvan has signed a new contract to stay with the U's.
27-year-old Owen had initially penned a contract through to January when he first arrived at the club, but has now signed a new deal that takes him through to the summer of 2017.
Boss Tony Humes said: "We're delighted that we have been able to sign Owen on a longer contract, keeping him here until the end of next season.
“He has already shown us, in the short time he has been here, how much experience and quality he brings to the squad.
“He will also be a great role model to all the young players we have here, he’s a top quality professional and if they have got any sense, they can learn from him what is needed to make a career at the top level.”
Owen took the captain's armband as the U's defeated Gillingham last weekend and will again be an important member of the team ahead of another week of three League One fixtures.
His new contract will be confirmed subject to paperwork clearance.
