Booklet produced to help new supporters.
Colchester United have teamed up with the Fans for Diversity Campaign to launch a brand new supporters guide to welcome new followers to the football club.
Supported by the Fans For Diversity Fund, which is part of the campaign that is run in partnership between Kick It Out and the Football Supporters' Federation, the guide aims to provide Colchester fans from all backgrounds more information on how they can visit the Weston Homes Community Stadium.
The guide gives extensive information for disabled supporters about accessibility to the U's home venue, as well as further details about the Fans For Diversity campaign.
The guide also provides all U's fans with important contact details and information relating to their matchday experience.
The guide has been made available for free in the Club Shop and also at the Colchester United community facility over at Shrub End.
Prior to the match against Gillingham, Kick It Out along with Fans For Diversity, held an equality workshop with students from St. Gregory Primary School in Sudbury. The students were asked to consider similarities and differences between each other during a number of exercises and activities.
The dedicated game was a success for the hosts on the pitch as well as they defeated the high-flying Gills 2-1.
Anwar Uddin, lead on the Fans For Diversity campaign, said: "It’s great to be working with such a proactive club that are always looking at ways in which they can further embellish their relationship with existing and new supporters.
"It is important that the Fans for Diversity Campaign plays a role in developing relationship between club and supporter. The day was a great success and another example of how effective our fans fund can be."
Matt Hudson, Media Manager at Colchester United, was pleased that Kick It Out and Fans For Diversity were involved with promoting equality with the U's.
He said: "We were delighted to welcome Kick It Out to the game on Saturday. We've received really positive feedback from our school group who participated in the interactive session with the Kick It Out staff.
"Colchester United is firmly committed to backing the work of Kick It Out and Fans For Diversity and we were pleased to have hosted our best dedicated game so far for the visit of Gillingham."
