Alex Is U's Champion

18 April 2016

Defender given PFA award.

Colchester United defender Alex Wynter's contribution to the club's community efforts were acknowledged at Saturday's match against Peterborough United.

Alex has shown a strong interest in the U's community efforts during his time at the club and now assists the Football in the Community coaches in delivering sessions in our schools.

The former Crystal Palace man has also been a regular face on the visitors organised by the club across the local area.

And, at the weekend, he was named the U's PFA Community Champion for 2015/16 award.

Each club nominates the player they believe has given the most back to the community and John Hudson, PFA Director of CSR, believes it is important that clubs contribute in their town and beyond.

He said: "The PFA believes that all players who go above and beyond what is expected of them in support of the club's community engagement programmes throughout the season should be recognised for their commitment.

"This award should highlight and raise awareness of the social responsibilities and impact of our Professional Footballers off the pitch and we would like to extend our congratulations to this season's recipient of the 2015/16 Community Champion Award."
