Online Tickets Success

4 April 2016

Landmark reached at recent fixture.

Colchester United's online ticketing service has proven to be a huge success this season – and the club recently hit a notable landmark.

U's supporters have made good use of www.colutickets.com over recent years, but use of the online site has stepped up a level this season with the introduction of the Print At Home service.

Print At home has made it even easier for fans to book their eat, with the ability to create their own tickets at the click of a button.

And, in the lead up to the game against Wigan in mid-March, the U’s sold their 30,000th online ticket of the 2015/16 campaign.

Supporter Charlotte Wilkin was the purchaser of that landmark ticket for the match against Doncaster Rovers and was in attendance with her friend’s son Harvey, a new U's fan.

The club invited Charlotte and Harvey along before the game to meet the Colchester United players and surprised the duo with an upgrade to sit behind the home dugout for the match against Rovers.

And what a great day they had, as the U's came from behind to record a cracking victory against Darren Ferguson's men.

Goals from Chris Porter, Elliot Lee, Alex Gilbey and Richard Brindley ensured it was a memorable afternoon for Harvey as he saw the celebrations at close hand.

"We have been delighted with the success of online ticketing this season and to have reached 30,000 online sales is a really pleasing statistic," U’s General Manager Tim Waddington said.

"We have more than doubled the percentage of match tickets sold via the online site and Print At Home has been particularly successful, with 74% of online tickets sold being bought by that method.

"The club are not standing still with its online offer, though, and we have more exciting developments in the pipeline for next season as we look to make it as simple as possible for the fans to back the team.

"We are in line for our third season in a row of crowd growth and that is testimony to the great backing we receive from our supporters and we thank them for their continued support."
