U's Collect Award

4 April 2016

Coventry victory gains acclaim.

The League Managers Association five-man panel, comprising LMA Chairman Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Joe Royle, Dave Bassett and Barry Fry, were in agreement that this week the LG Performance of the Week Award should go to the U's after that victory at the Ricoh Arena.

Colchester United's 1-0 win over Coventry City last Tuesday saw them pick up the League Managers Association's Performance of the Week.

The experienced and highly distinguished panel has managed a combined total of over 6,000 competitive matches in professional football.

Kevin received a specially commissioned trophy made by world renowned silversmiths and LMA Partner, Thomas Lyte of London, in a presentation on Friday to commemorate the award.

Kevin managed to turn Colchester's fortunes around during March.

After picking up their first league win since October against Bradford, their performance against Coventry means they head into the final stages of the season in good form, with 10 points from a possible 18 and now only 7 points away from safety.

Facing a strong Coventry side, who have occupied the play-off places for periods of this season, Colchester defended well and came away from the Ricoh Arena with a well-earned win, as Gavin Massey slotted home following good work from Elliot Lee down the left hand side.
