U's Flash: Wynter Signs

27 April 2016

New deal for Alex

A clash of heads with Tom Eastman in the FA Cup clash against Spurs in January put him out for three months and he has only just returned to first team action, playing his first game last Saturday.

He helped secure League One survival last season, but has had to watch on for much of the second half of this season as the U's dropped into League Two.

The former Crystal Palace defender signed permanently in January 2015, following a successful loan spell in the previous season, and has now committed to the U's for another two years.

Alex Wynter has signed a new contract with the U's.

He is keen to help the U's return to the third tier of English football and is happy that the new contract has been agreed.

"I'm pleased that I've signed a new deal, it gives me a bit of stability and allows me to concentrate fully on playing football."

"It's been a frustrating season for me personally but hopefully, that's all behind me now.

"I enjoy it here, I enjoy coming in to train every day, I like the place and the area so it was a perfect fit for me.
"We've got to look to bounce back but first we've got two games to play, games that we want to win and take into the new season."
