Chelmsford school progress in Girls Cup.

Moulsham High from Chelmsford progressed through to the regional stages of the EFL Girls cup at the end of November, after a keenly fought local round of the competition.

On Tuesday 29th November, the U's Football in the Community programme hosted a sixteen team tournament, with schools attending from all over Essex.

After some competitive football in the early stages, Clacton Coastal Academy, Thurstable School, Shenfield High and Moulsham High made the semi-finals.

Moulsham squeezed past Thurstable on penalties, while Clacton Coastal Academy edged Shenfield out 2-1.

The final brought together Moulsham and Clacton who had competed in the previous two local finals against each other.

It was a closely fought game with Moulsham winning 2-0 in an action packed final. Congratulations to Clacton for making the final and being well deserved runners up, But a huge well done to Moulsham High School for winning this stage of the EFL Girls Cup.

They will now represent Colchester United in the next round on Thursday 12th January 2017 and they won't have far to travel, as the U's Football in the Community scheme have been awarded the opportunity to host the regional round of the competition.
