Tots Get Sporty

New course run by the U's and Barnardo's.

The U's Football in the Community scheme and Barnardo's Children’s Centres currently work together in running programmes from Shrub End Community Sports Centre and these Sporty Tots sessions will be the first of some more partnership work throughout the season.

Young football fans from across Colchester are getting the chance to take their first steps in enjoying the beautiful game, thanks to Colchester United and Barnardo's.

Sporty Tots is an introduction into sports through fundamental movements for two to four year olds delivered in partnership by the U's and Early Years Workers from Barnardo's.
It's a fun introduction to sport
that develops balance, co-ordination, sending, receiving  During the sessions, staff use a variety 

and striking skills. of games and activities to engage the children, while parents are also encouraged to join in if necessary.

The course which was led by Karl Andrade, Football in the Community’s School Sports Co-ordinator, was the first course of this nature for both organisations and there are already plans to run another during the Easter Holidays.
