Club physio Tony Flynn told the club website: "Alex was released from hospital late on Saturday evening after a period of observation and spent the remainder of the weekend resting up at home in Colchester with his family.
Alex was taken to hospital on Saturday after clashing with fellow defender Tom Eastman and will now spend the next two weeks out of action as he recovers from the blow to his head.
