Update On Alex Wynter

1 February 2016

Defender beginning a period of rest.

Club physio Tony Flynn told the club website: "Alex was released from hospital late on Saturday evening after a period of observation and spent the remainder of the weekend resting up at home in Colchester with his family.

Alex was taken to hospital on Saturday after clashing with fellow defender Tom Eastman and will now spend the next two weeks out of action as he recovers from the blow to his head.

Colchester United defender Alex Wynter is home and beginning a period of rest, after being injured in Saturday's Emirates FA Cup tie against Tottenham Hotspur.

"He is still a little groggy, but will now undergo a period of cognitive and physical rest for the next two weeks in line with FA guidelines.

"After that time, he will return to the club and take part in a graduated return over the next week, where we will keep a close eye on his progress.

Fellow defender Tom Eastman is expected to return to training this week, having also been substituted during the first half against Spurs.

"Depending on how he fares in that time, then the club will be able to make a decision on how soon he can return to action."
