Defender eager to get started.
Experienced defender Nicky Shorey is looking forward to playing his part in the U's quest to pull clear of trouble at the foot of League One.
He became Kevin Keen's first permanent signing, when penning a six month contract until the end of the season.
And, having watched the U's two home games in the past week, he's now ready to get involved in the remaining games of the 2015/16 campaign.
"I've been involved in training over the past week and really enjoyed it," Nicky told the official website.
"I've joined a good group of lads with a lot of quality, so I'm looking forward to working with them and making a positive contribution."
Reflecting on two home games that garnered a point but maybe could have earned more, Nicky added: "We'll be looking for better results in the coming weeks, but I thought the performance against Sheffield United was very good and we could have won last night.
"We need to start turning those performances into wins, and if we keep doing the right things, show the same work ethic and perhaps get a little bit of good fortune, then we can turn things around.
"The manager has explained exactly what he wants from me and I'm really looking forward to it."
