U's Flash: Lewis Signs

Defender pens U's contract.

Colchester United are delighted to welcome defender Lewis Kinsella to the club.

The former Aston Villa player has impressed in his two games on trial against Ipswich Town and Crystal Palace and the U's have moved to sign him up on a permanent basis.

Lewis has signed a one year contract with the club and his move will be sealed subject to paperwork clearance.

Originally from Hertfordshire, Lewis spent eight years with Arsenal, before joining Villa in 2011.

He was a regular in their U18s and U21s in his time at Villa Park and was in their first team squad for the FA Cup quarter final tie against West Brom, as well as Premier League matches against Sunderland and Swansea City.

The 21-year-old has had loan spells at Luton and Kidderminster Harriers and returned to Kenilworth Road on trial this summer.

However, it is with the U's that he will take the next steps in his career.
