Defender joins U's ranks ahead of new season.
Colchester United are delighted to welcome experienced central defender Luke Prosser to the club ahead of the new season.
28-year-old Luke has signed a two year contract and, aftet several weeks of talks during the summer, he arrives at the U's with nearly 250 senior appearances under his belt - including plenty of knowledge of the top end of League Two.
He helped Essex neighbours Southend United to promotion from that level in 2014/15, playing 33 times as the Shrimpers returned to League One after a five year absence.
He also was a part of the Northampton Town squad that romped to the League Two title last season, playing eight times for the Cobblers after moving to Sixfields on loan in the second half of the campaign.
A Tottenham Hotspur academy graduate, Luke got his first taste of senior football at Port Vale, where he played 33 times as a youngster, before returning to the south to join up with Southend.
Luke's move will be completed subject to paperwork clearance from the relevant authorities and we'll have more reaction from him soon.
In his time at Roots Hall, he played 131 times at the heart of their defence and will now look to establish himself in the U's back line.
