U21s Back In Winning Habit

21 March 2016

A single goal enough to beat Hull.

A single goal was enough to beat Hull City on Monday night, as the U's U21s got back to winning ways after last week's defeat to Cardiff City.

Femi Akinwande struck after 36 minutes to put the U's in front after good work by Macauley Bonne and it was a lead that the home side went on well to protect in the second half.

The Tigers came to the Weston Homes Community Stadium on a high after reaching the Premier League Cup Finall in recent weeks, but the U's were on the front foot in the first forty-five minutes, with Akinwande's goal a merited reward for plenty of possession and good approach play.

The visitors had the better of it in the second half, though, and it required some resolute defending from the U's and some good goalkeeping from Dillon Barnes as the young U's picked up yet another clean sheet.

We'll have a further report online in due course.
