Homegrown midfielder Alex Gilbey was selected as the 2015/16 Official Player of the Year at the U's End of Season dinner on Friday night.

Alex, who has been with the U's since he was twelve, just edged out fellow midfielder Joe Edwards for the main award.

The U's number eight celebrated a double on Friday, also notching the Goal of the Season award for his thunderbolt against Doncaster Rovers in March.

Joe didn't go away empty handed, though, landing a treble of his own.

He picked up both the CUSA Home and Away awards, as well as the coveted Players' Player title for 2015/16, just ahead of George Moncur.

The Young Player of the Year crown went to Frankie Kent, as the U's Academy saw two graduates pick up awards at this year's event.

Alex Wynter, recently crowned the club's PFA Community Champion, picked up the Community Player of the Year award on Friday.
