In The Family: Your Story

Samantha Hurr is the first fan to tell her tale.

1) How many generations of U's support are there in your family?

First up is Samantha Hurr, a regular supporter home and away.

As we prepare for the start of sales in July, we've begun to ask fans for their stories of how following the U's is in their blood.

We are proud of the work we are doing with families at the Weston Homes Community Stadium and it's fair to say that supporting the U's can be in the blood, with many of our supporters having been introduced to the club by family members.

Colchester United launched their 2016/17 ticketing details at the recent home game against Rochdale as the club and fans alike prepare themselves for some exciting new challenges next season.
We have four generations.

This just increased my desire to play football and I even went on to play for Colchester United Centre of Excellence!

I was mad on football from a very young age and so my dad took me to my first game at Layer Road, when I was about four years old.
2) Who was it that introduced you to the club and how did it all start?

So I've never forgotten the time and such a kind gesture that the club gave me. My family saw how much it helped me with my recovery.

When I was fourteen, I got seriously ill and nearly lost my life. Once I was on the road to recovery, I got to meet all the players and it gave me a real boost.

It's our local team and to us it has really shown that it's a great club.
3) What is it about the club that has seen the support passed through the generations?

I have made many friends through watching the U's. Mainly from away trips on the CUSA coach.
4) The 'family' gets extended to fans who you watch the game with - how many friends have you made through watching the U's?

I'm really hoping we can mount a good challenge to finish in the top six, but do realise this will be tough. So I'm just hoping we give it our all and it's not long before we are back in League One.

5) What are your hopes for next season?
