Four goals defeat Hullbridge.
A young Colchester United side progressed through to the Fourth Round of the Essex Senior Cup on Tuesday night, with a 4-1 win over Hullbridge Sports.
With the U's also in action in the Checkatrade Trophy on Tuesday, there were only four players with first team games under their belt at Lower Road.
And they fought back from 1-0 down early on to record a win against their Essex Senior League opponents.
That goal for Hullbridge came after just seven minutes as Harry Skinner was alert to Ben Perry's knock down at a free kick to bury past Rhys Williams.
The U's ensured that the home team were not able to build on that lead, though, as they equalised five minutes later.
Charley Edge had scored in the recent draw with Coventry in the U23s and it was his shot that pinged in off the post to draw the U's level.
The visitors began to see more of the ball and pressed to get their noses in front, and were eventually rewarded just before half time.
Decarrey Sheriff was the provider on this occasion, sliding through a fine pass for Dion Sembie-Ferris to slot home.
The timing of the U's goal would have been a blow to the home side and Colchester extended their advantage six minutes into the second half.
Edge passed through to George Brown, and he scored to put the U's in control of the game.
Sheriff hit the post two minutes later, but it was not until the final kick of the game that the U's wrapped things up.
Edge grabbed his second of the game and the U's fourth, as he lifted his shot into the roof of the net.
A productive night's work for the U's and they will await their opponents in the Fourth Round draw.
