U's Face Tough Draw

Manchester City, Derby County and Hull City in U23s tournament.

Colchester United's future stars will welcome Manchester City to the Weston Homes Community Stadium, after being drawn with the Premier League side's U23s in this year's Premier League Cup.

The U's will also face top flight side Hull City and Championship outfit Derby County's youngsters in the U23s competition.

Wayne Brown's men will face all three sides home and away and the revamped competition will see 32 clubs in the main group stage, replacing the straight knockout of the U21s Premier League Cup. 

The competition will be contested between Under-23 teams, with each side allowed three over-age outfield players and a goalkeeper born before 1 January 1993.

The top two teams from each of the eight groups then go through to the last 16 of the competition which is are one-off knockout ties from then on.
