A Second Blog From Spain

10 August 2017

Colchester United U18s trip to Spain is coming to a close, with their return journey taking place on Friday.

Ahead of their trip to England, we've got another blog from their Spanish excursion, with striker Callum Jones bringing us up to date with the early part of this week.

Sunday
We had a lie-in today because we played a match the day before and had no training today. Breakfast was not until 9.30am and I had ham rolls this time! After that we had a recovery session in the pool where we all played water polo. We then had time for ourselves, before we had a speaker visit from Sevilla CF come in. He spoke to us about the Spanish style and the difference from English football.

In the afternoon we went to Isla Magica - Magic Island. There was two parts to the park: a theme park and a water park. We went on all the theme park rides first as the queues weren’t too long as it wasn’t that busy, maybe because it was so hot again! The rides were good, because the rollercoaster was quick and we didn't have to queue for long.

After this we all went to the water park and went on the slides for a bit. We also went in the wave pool which was a good laugh because some of the boys couldn't swim in it! It was a great afternoon out.

We came back and had our normal buffet dinner at the hotel, which was meats and pasta, then we had a sing off between the worst two trainers who the group had voted for.

Monday
We woke up at 7.30 and had a quick shower before we went to breakfast. I changed my usual breakfast for once and went for cereal as I didn't want toast again and a cup of tea. Very English! After breakfast we went down for a 9 o’clock team meeting before leaving to go to training at Coria again.

Training was a hard session as we had rested over the weekend, since winning on Saturday morning at AD Nervion. We did passing drills with running, and possession sessions with end men. After this we had a game at the end.

When we got back we had lunch and had a few hours to ourselves to rest and lay by the pool. Later in the afternoon we did our reviews, where we look back at what we have done and write up our assessment of it online. After that was another Spanish lesson, which was difficult.

We trained again in the evening to prepare for the second game: we did some shape and finishing before coming back for dinner at the hotel.
