U23s Head To Barnsley

Squad taking shape as season gets going

18 August 2017

Colchester United U23s travel to take on Barnsley at Oakwell on Friday for their second league game - and their squad continues to take shape with further additions.

The U's ran out 2-1 winners against Birmingham City in their opening fixture and will be aiming to build on that with their first away trip of the campaign.

Goalkeeper Dan Wilks is in line to make his second appearance of the season, having played in that win over Birmingham.

Dan has joined the U's on loan until January from nearby Maldon & Tiptree to provide additional options between the sticks for the U's U23s.

The 21-year-old, who started at Watford and also had time in Scotland with St Mirren, was part of Maldon's promotion push last season and resigned for the Jammers in the summer.

Dan is joined in the squad by the U's latest U23s addition, Will Wright.

Will is a central defender or right back who joins the U23s from Hitchin Town.

The former Luton Town player has made a big impression during his time with Hitchin and spent four weeks on trial with Norwich City in the summer before also trialling with the U's.

Will has signed a two year contract with the U's to initially become part of the U23s squad.

The game against Barnsley kicks off at 2pm at Oakwell and is free admission.

U's: Wilks, Kurasik, W. Wright, Kensdale, Jefferies, Wilson, Howard, Allarahkia, Edge, Dunne, Ager, Anderson, Phipps, Jones, Senior
