Man v Fat team represent Col U at national centre.
A team representing Colchester United headed to St George's Park last weekend as part of a tournament with a difference.
The U's side came from our Football in the Community scheme's partnership with MAN v FAT, where keen footballers are given the chance to lose weight alongside playing the sport.
MAN v FAT invited sides from their leagues around the country to play against each other at St George's Park last Saturday and the Colchester United squad joined teams from league rivals Leyton Orient and Luton Town, as well as Bristol City FC, East Riding F.A as well as other leisure centre based sides.
The event was played on the David Beckham pitch and was supported by The FA and 160 men in 16 different teams attended the event as well as fans from across the country.
Players were randomly picked from their leagues, but they must have acheieved the 5% weight loss target set in all MAN v FAT Football leagues.
Some men had lost up to 20% of their body weight since starting the programme!
The MAN v FAT Football scheme has just reached the milestone of helping men across the UK lose a total of 10 tonnes and the Colchester league recently started for their second set of fixtures.
