U's Host County Final

24 February 2017

Chelmsford and East Thurrock come to WHCS.

Colchester United's Weston Homes Community Stadium will be the venue for the 2017 BBC Essex Senior Cup Final as Vanarama National League South clubs Chelmsford City and East Thurrock United go head-to-head for the prestigious silverware on Tuesday 28th March (kick-off 7:45pm).

"We are delighted that the Weston Homes Community Stadium will be hosting the final for the first time," U's General Manager Tim Waddington said.

"The Essex Senior Cup final has been a keenly contested fixture over recent years and we are looking forward to seeing the two teams go head to head.

"We have enjoyed working with Brendan Walshe and his team on a number of projects in the past and we are very proud to be able to be the chosen venue for this year's showpiece game."

A large crowd is expected in North Essex for the climax between two of the County's highest-ranked non-league clubs.

Rod Stringer's Clarets made the final with a 4-0 home victory over last year’s runners-up, Heybridge Swifts, while The Rocks, managed by John Coventry, recorded a 3-2 triumph against neighbours Tilbury at Rookery Hill.
