Jack Departs The U's

18 January 2017

Midfielder moves on in search of regular football.

Colchester United have parted company with attacking midfielder Jack Curtis, as he looks to establish himself in first team football.

Jack, who progressed through the ranks of the U's Academy, was part of the double winning youth side of 2013/14, as the U18s won their league and the Youth Alliance Cup, triumphing in a memorable final at Bradford City.

Having moved into the U23s squad, he made one first team appearance, coming on as a substitute in the U's 6-3 FA Cup win over Wealdstone last season.

However, he will now move onto pastures new to get his career into full swing.

U's Director of Football Tony Humes said: "It's always a difficult decision to let players go, and especially for ones like Jack who have been with the club for a long time.

"Jack was a part of a successful group of young players who progressed from the youth team and into the U23s squad, but he hasn't quite kicked on into the senior environment.

"The best thing now is for him to go out and start the next stage of his career ahead of the summer period where a number of players will be released, and we wish him all the best as he leaves the club to progress with his footballing future."
