Michael Departs The U's

20 January 2017

Defender moves to pastures new.

Colchester United have parted company with defender Michael O'Donoghue, as he moves on in search of regular first team football.

Michael, who turned 21 this week, joined the U's from Leyton Orient and was a member of the double winning youth side of 2013/14, winning the league and Youth Alliance Cup.

The dynamic left back made his sole U's first team appearance in November 2014, starting and plying the full ninety minutes in the 3-2 defeat at Barnsley.

However, he was to miss a significant amount of football after rupturing his knee ligaments in training later that year.

Having made his way back to fitness, he'll now seek pastures new as he looks to find a regular first team spot.

Director of Football Tony Humes said: "Like Jack Curtis, the time is right for Michael to find himself somewhere to play regular football.

"Both were part of a successful group of players and we hope that Michael joins Jack in making a positive next step in his career and we wish him all the best for the future."
