U's Flash: Dean Signs

31 January 2017

Goalkeeper is latest transfer addition.

Colchester United are delighted to welcome goalkeeper Dean Brill to the club on a free transfer.

Dean joins the U's until the end of the season, having recently left Scottish Premier League side Motherwell last week.

His arrival at the Weston Homes Community Stadium club ends a four year stint north of the border, having also played for Livingston for three years.

The 31-year-old started his career with Luton, playing during the Hatters' time in the Championship and picking up the club's Young Player of the Year award at the end of the 2006/7 season.

After over eighty appearances for Town, he moved onto Oldham in the summer of 2009, penning a two year deal.

He played 58 times in those two seasons before leaving the Lancashire side in 2011 at the end of his contract.

Next was a spell at Barnet in League Two, where he played his part in keeping the Bees in the Football League, with another 36 appearances under his belt.

After a season long spell with first club Luton, Dean opted to head north of the border to Inverness Caledonian Thistle, initially on loan before making the move permanent.

In his time with Inverness, he helped the club achieve a record stint without conceding at the start of the 2014/15 season and it would be Motherwell next for the 6ft 2 goalkeeper.

His time at Fir Park proved to be a frustrating one with a shortage of first team football, and now he will be hoping to push Sam Walker and Dillon Barnes all the way for the first team goalkeeper berth at Colchester.
