Calling on U's fans to help the Donor Register.
Right now across the UK there are around 6,500 people waiting for an organ transplant including around 150 children and teenagers. On average, three people die each day because of a shortage of organ donors.
We want to blow the whistle on these figures and do something about it.
That's why Colchester United is supporting NHS Blood and Transplant's campaign alongside other football and rugby clubs, sports governing bodies and other organisations to ask you, our fans, to join the NHS Organ Donor Register.
Following a hugely successful campaign in 2016 supported by 40 sports organisations, this year NHS Blood and Transplant wants to get even more people talking about organ donation and taking action.
Football, rugby and sports fans across England are being asked to "join our team" and sign up to the NHS Organ Donor Register to help save lives.
We will be working together to raise awareness and drive registrations, with activity including stadium advertising, interviews with football players and social media posts to capture the passion that fans have for their team and make a real difference to people's lives.
By donating your organs after you die, you could save or improve the lives of up to nine people, and even more if you donate tissue or give the gift of sight.
How you can help:-
• Talk about organ donation with your family, and make sure they know what you want, and understand what they want too
• Share our campaign posts on Facebook and Twitter using #SignForLife and help us reach even more people
