The U's got off to a perfect start as they looked to bounce back from last week's defeat to Crewe Alexandra as Porter scored a looping header just four minutes in as he met a superb cross from Brennan Dickenson from the left.
Colchester were nearly 2-0 up just before the 15 minute mark, but a long range effort from Drey Wright was parried behind by Matt Macey.

With 64 minutes gone, Sam Walker and then George Elokobi came to the rescue for the U's. After a scramble in the box Lawson D'Ath turned a shot towards goal to which Walker was equal to.
The rebound fell to Alan Sheehan on the edge of the area and his curling shot looked to be heading into the top corner until George Elokobi headed off the line.
From there on in, Luton took a direct approached as a couple of long throws caused problems in the Colchester box, but the U's were able to clear their lines.
