Colchester United U18s eased through to the Third Round on the FA Youth Cup on Monday night, as they ran out 5-0 winners against Bishop's Stortford.
They turned in a professional display against their non-league opponents and avoided any worries of an upset as they got their noses in front on the half hour mark and then never gave up their advantage.
The U's had to be patient to get that first goal, and it came when Dean Ager's shot was deflected past the keeper and into the back of the net.
The second came just seven minutes later and it was Ager who was again the architect.
He embarked on a run down the right hand side before cutting in and slotting the ball home to double the U's advantage.
Two down at the break, the visitors would have been hoping to get back into the match with an early goal in the second half, but the U's soon put paid to those hopes.
They came racing out of the blocks in the second half and added a third as Andre Hassanally rounded the keeper to square unselfishly for Callum Jones to tap home.
Jones joined Ager on two goals when he bore down one on one with the goalkeeper and finished to take the game further away from Stortford.
The chances continued to come for the U's and they rounded off the scoring with five minutes to go as George Keys was on hand to snap up a loose ball and make it five from a corner.
The U's now await news of their opponents in the next round at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.
