Colchester United U23s got back to winning ways on Monday afternoon, as they ran out winners against Coventry City.
The U's had suffered a rare defeat last time out against Crystal Palace, but bounced back in style with a 4-2 win over the Sky Blues at Florence Park.
The Sky Blues had taken the lead early in the game, but the U's asserted their authority from then on to pick up all three points.
Jordan Ponticelli had put Coventry in front, heading home from Dion Kelly-Evans for his eighth U23s goal of the season.
But the U's were soon level when Courtney Senior scored from the edge of the box to make the score 1-1.
And they got their noses in front when Decarrey Sheriff repeated the feat by driving home from just outside of the area to put the U's 2-1 up at the break.
They made it three early in the second half when Senior got his second of the game after good work by Tarryn Allarakhia.
The U's were made to sweat when Coventry pulled one back on the counter attack with Bilal Sayoud slotting home to make it 3-2.
But any hopes of a comeback were soon quashed when Eoin McKeown created an opportunity for fellow substitute Tariq Issa to tuck home and seal the win.
