U's Reach Quarter Finals Of Senior Cup

O'Sullivan hits a treble in Fourth Round win

30 November 2017

Colchester United made it through safely to the quarter finals of the Essex Senior Cup on Thursday night, with Tommy O'Sullivan leading the way with a hat-trick on an impressive night for the U's.

O'Sullivan scored the first and last goal for the U's as they progressed to the last eight thanks to seven goals against their Bostik North opponents.

The Welshman opened the scoring with a low shot on eight minutes and the U's didn't look back from there.

Courtney Senior was in full flow on Thursday's game and he set up the second goal as he squared to Decarrey Sheriff to finish past the keeper.

Six minutes later, with 35 minutes gone, the U's added a third as Senior set up O'Sullivan to finish calmly once again.

And the U's made the game almost safe on the stroke of half time as Tariq Issa got on the end of a good attacking move to make it four.

Any hopes of a home recovery were further quelled a minute into the second half as substitute Eoin McKeown made an instant impression with yet another goal to add to his seasonal tally.

The home side pulled one back through Jack Gardner, but two minutes later the U's restored their advantage as Issa stabbed home under pressure to make it six.

And O'Sullivan wrapped up the scoring on a chilly evening as he completed his hat-trick six minutes from time.

The U's will discover their next opponents next week.
